TCF annual candle lighting

Tonight was the annual Compassionate Friends candle lighting ceremony. First an email was sent out announcing the event, and requesting help and volunteers to help bring after the candle lighting platters of something I guessed to be baked goods and with help handing out the candles, help for afterwards to help cleanup.

I offered help with bringing something, and handing out the candles. I don’t know what other help was offered. About a week later I received a second email saying that the event was being cancelled due to lack of volunteers. I was very upset about the cancellation.

So I tried to get the space we use at Nathan Adelson Hospice, but that couldn’t be arraigned. Then I got another email, saying it was back on through the Compassionate Friends, and that it would be here in Vegas. I was planning on going, but on Sunday, the day of the event, Tony and I were going through some pretty bad moments.

So being totally emotionally exhausted and drained, we decided against going to the event, and I was just going to light our own candle here at home. So at 7:00 pm on the dot I lit a candle for Jennifer, and also one for each child lost to those in my support group. I lit a total of eight candles, said up a prayer for each child, and their families.

Next year I will do my best to attend the actual event.

We miss you terribly Jennifer, and love you very much!
